Big Day For My Little Man

So, my five year old has a bit of a resistance to trying new things. His staple diet is pretty much hot dogs, mac and cheese and peanut butter sandwiches. I have to sneak stuff in his food in order to get him to eat vegetables. Well, today I broke out the breadmaker and tried some zucchini bread. He was so excited to try it- which amazed me. Then, when he did try it there was no hesitation and he loved it so much he took off with the whole loaf. It was a pretty big day for him. Next, he decided to take the training wheels off his bike. I told him he had to wait for Daddy to get home- thinking I might be chasing him for a while with my hand on his seat (I was picturing my dear swedish friend as I watched her run up and down the street holding her son, Marcus' bike one day. I admired her resilience). SO, Dad got home and took the wheels off. He took off like a pro. A few wobbles and a crash or two but overall he was amazing! So of course Mom took a video of it. It's hilarious. He took off and ran straight into the mailboxes. If I'd gotten a better shot it would have been AFV worthy...

The Joys of Parenting a 3 year old...

I was locked out of my house the other day by my three year old. He thought this was funny. . . Mom didn't. My five year old happened to be outside with me- she had followed me out to ask a question while I was running the baby's diaper to the trash (this is what I get for not having the cloth diapers cleaned and ready to use). My baby was in the house sleeping with my little tazmanian devil now giggling that mommy's face was red and she looked like she was gonna pop. So he must have wanted to prove what a big little man he was and how he could take care of things and didn't need to let mom back inside... so he ran into the bedroom and came out dragging the baby by his neck... yep, mom lost it and broke the window to the kitchen door with a spatula off the barbecue, then grabbed the five year old and dropped her through the window so she could unlock the door. Yes, he ran and hid from mom cuz I don't think in all of his giggles he once thought momma was gonna smash a window. Funny what instincts will do. So, he likes to keep me on my toes, cuz the very next day he stripped down naked first thing in the morning and ran outside and squatted on the wall in my front yard and pooped. How am I going to survive this little spirited man? I didn't really think over the consequences of marrying his father... Not sure why the thought didn't cross my mind as he was telling me about all of his boyhood adventures while we were dating that someday I might have to raise a miniature version of him. The best part? His little brother is showing signs of following close in his footsteps. Help me.

Ashton my Moon

My moonshine boy is now 3! I can't believe he is growing up so fast! He is working on potty training and I think I almost peed my pants laughing the first time I saw him rip his spidey undies off and run for the bathroom. I followed close behind to make sure he was alright and found he had climbed up onto the seat and was squatting on the side of the toilet seat! It worked though, his aim was perfect. I can't wait til there are less diapers to wash! Yay mom! The other day I was hugging him and said "I love you my son." He looked up at me and said, "no mom, I'm your moon." He is definitely my child that is committed to whatever he is focused on, has his own opinions about everything, likes to do everything by himself, thinks he is indestructible and has an abundance of energy. He is also a very sweet, caring and loving cuddlebug.

My Muddy Little Man

Ah oh!

Ya caught me!

Yep, there's mud all over my hands too!

Ya, I know. Just don't look at the front window and the wall...

Oh man, ya had to look didn't ya? I got it good, huh?

Ashton in Daddy's Gloves

Wearing Daddy's work gloves. I love to assist Daddy in yardwork- which is a pretty heavy load these days. I was so excited I had to show off my BIG hands!

Yep, I'm really doing it...

Shaving Daddy's head. Sissy usually shaves it, but it was my turn. Its great having a dad that doesn't mind a few nicks here and there...

SUMMERTIME!

I think Ashton must have been a fish
in his previous life. He LOVES water.
This entire summer I don't think he's
been dressed in anything else besides
his diaper or swim trunks- or
underwear.

He would put his goggles on and swim in the kiddie pool all day. I had to drag him in kicking and screaming most days so he wouldn't
dehydrate or starve to death.

He loves to hide from me and just watch me frantically search for him. He will sit very quietly and when I finally find him he shrieks and laughs at me.
